SportsTG Enters UK Market

Friday, 28th of April 2017

SportsTG has officially entered the sports market in the United Kingdom with the launch of the Rugby Football League’s new technology platform.

The RFL and SportsTG recently rolled out LeagueNet, a new Competition and Participation Management platform built for both grassroots and professional levels of Rugby League.

LeagueNet allows the RFL to obtain accurate participation data and improve player retention and engagement, whilst streamlining game administration for Rugby League stakeholders.

RFL Systems Manager, Richard Donlon, said the implementation of LeagueNet would support Rugby League’s digital and customer focus.

“We have to put the sport in a position where it can meet the needs of both existing volunteers and the next generation. These are the people who give their time to support our sport , and they deserve a fully digital experience,” says Donlon.

The launch of LeagueNet has allowed the Rugby Football League to achieve some significant milestones for the organisation, including:

  • Consolidating functionality of five existing technology systems
  • Using one database to manage professional and community players, alongside coaches, match officials and volunteers
  • Providing a complete online solution for match official registrations and appointments
  • Allowing Leagues to create and manage their own fixtures
  • Giving Clubs the ability to enter their own results and statistics online
  • Processing domestic and international transfers and permits online
  • Replacing plastic ID cards with an online version
  • Successful pilot of online player registrations in preparation for a wider rollout in 2018

RFL Chief Operating Officer, Ralph Rimmer, says the LeagueNet system will help the modern day administrator run their competitions more efficiently.

“Sport is constantly evolving, and our priority is putting the needs of our community first,” says Rimmer.

The launch of LeagueNet is the beginning of a five-year partnership between the RFL and SportsTG.

“The Rugby Football League have a clear vision for their digital future, and the launch of LeagueNet has allowed them to achieve the first phase of this transformation,” says SportsTG Head of Sport, Brian Cooney.

“We look forward to assisting the Rugby Football League with their technology strategy well into the future.”
